Air traffic accounts for 15 percent of all CO2 emissions from all transit sources. Fuel burned by aircraft has a huge environmental impact, but how to decrease this? Once a very succesful businesswoman, Vreneli Stadelmaier lost it all when she convinced herself she wasn't good enough. She resigned from her job and settled for a caretakers life at home with her kids, while her husband started his own company. When her marriage also failed, she asked herself "what did I do wrong?" and realised that it was not the men in her life who had told her she didn't belong, but that is was the voices in her own head. With this new realisation she entered a new, more confindent chapter in her life. She hopes to inspire men and women alike to find new confidence to achieve their dreams by drowning out to those same old voices in their heads and to step out of their routines. Vreneli Stadelmaier, a performer, writer, careercoach and an entrepreneur for 20 years. She is the Dutch expert on the impostor phenomenon (the fear of beiing found out) and how it’s holding back. Vreneli was rewarded by the Dutch government with an award for women emancipation. Her goal in life is more women at the top. Refugees have a hard time when they arrive at a new place. Stating that, “Home is relative, love is universal,” Kiza Magendane suggests a new way to help refugees feel at home: by adopting a refugee. Not necessarily in the literal sense, but by helping them through offering support and encouragement the foundations of a new home can already be built. Eight years ago, Kiza arrived in the Netherlands, fleeing from the civil war in Congo. With the support of the local community, he managed to evolve into the best version of himself. At present he studies at university level, and writes opinion pieces on Africa, politics and migration. In addition, he has written for various publications on Africa and politics and migration. “I am an opinion maker,” he said. His involvement with the various organizations has given him a very clear perspective on the integration of migrants in Dutch society and ideas on how he feels it could further improve. Sex is one of Jesse Willis’ hobbies, and he is convinced that most people could classify it like that. However, they do not want to say it out loud. To Jesse, this is proof that talking about sex is one of the last remaining taboos in our Western society. Jesse studies at the Faculty of Industrial Design at TU Delft. He joined the TEDxDelft Award, organized by start-up incubator YES!Delft Students. Out of a group of five finalists, Jesse won the competition and earned his time on the TEDxDelft stage. How can it be that sex is such a commonly practised activity, yet it is still kind of taboo to talk about it in depth?
